The following is an email sent to all registrants for the upcoming Powershift Youth Climate Summit in Auckland on 7-9 December. Lucy is one of the keynote speakers and she will be starting the summit with the first keynote speach at 10 am on 7 December.

We're getting very, very excited at our Power Shift base camp. After months of work and planning, Power Shift NZ-Pacific is just around the corner. We can't wait to see you there!

You're about to be part of something really extraordinary, something that's a first for New Zealand. It probably all seems pretty crazy, and you might not know what to expect when you get there...Don't worry, that's what everyone else is thinking too.

We've got an action packed programme, but we've also got your back. All the organisers and loads of volunteers will be there to help you out if you need it, and there are heaps of quiet spots for you to dash away to if you need a break at any stage.

Once you rock up to registrations on Friday morning, you're in safe hands. We'll make sure you know everything you need to know to get the most out of your weekend!

Having looked at the programme, I can tell you, it's going to be mindblowing. You'll be in the most important place you can possibly be.

Below are some details for the event - flick us an email at info@powershift.org.nz if you have any other questions, or ask them on our Facebook page.

See you on Friday!

From,
Jimmy Green and the Power Shift crew

Kick-off...

Warm up your voices...

As part of the Mihi Whakatau, our Maori welcome, we'll be singing E Tu Kahikatea - we hope if you know it you can sing extra loud, but if you don't check out this audio clip for pronunciation.

Help keep Power Shift sustainable

Here are a few pointers to help make sure Power Shift is sustainable....
  • Don't forget to bring your own water bottle or reuseable coffee cup - that will help cut down loads of waste.
  • Please remember we aren't providing kai. Pack your lunch, or there are some food options around the campus too.
  • Jump on the bus or train to get to the Uni and avoid having to pay for really expensive parking! Check out the Auckland Transport options here

Get your groove on...

Calling all Powershift participants with performance skills! If you're a dancer (especially hip hop), juggler, break dancer, gymnast, acrobat, or have another performance skill, we need you for the giant flash mob!

A few extra rehearsals may be required of you during lunchtimes at Power Shift, but you'll no doubt reap the rewards with YouTube quasi-celebrity status.  Please email abbytessaward@gmail.com for more details.

You might also want to bring...

Sunscreen, pens and notebooks, your camera, snacks to keep you going... and your best mate - tickets are still available on our website until Thursday 2pm for $90 and available at registration on the Friday for $120 (cash sales only).

We are all super excited to see you soon!
