Lucy Mention in A Report of Night of 100 Stars

Written by Mrs Marci Weiner who was "seated next to New Zealand stunner, Lucy Lawless" at Night of 100 Stars on 21 February 2009.

She calls herself "fortunate" and judging from her words she really felt that way.

The blog entry is dated March 16, and there is also a beautiful photo attached.  (A pic of Kevin Sorbo, too.)

Many thanks to Adi and Barbara Davies for the news

Lucy is a Twittering? Alas No...

Twitter seems to be all the rage these days and stars are popping up on there sharing their thoughts and stuff. It seems there is a Lucy Lawless on Twitter. It's not our Lucy. Lucy doesn't do twitter.

Barbara Davies checked with Sharon Delaney and has confirmed it (many thanks Barbara). The Lucy Lawless on Twitter is a fake. If you are in the mood and want to have a bit of a giggle you can go on Twitter and follow the Fake Lucy

Bitch Slap News and Lucy Mention

America Olivo is interviewed about her role on Bitch Slap on the iconversesicon site and she mentions Lucy and Renee:

America Olivo talks about Bitch Slap

...Lucy (Lawless) and Renee (O’Connor) were hilarious! I loved seeing them in such a different role from what they’re used to. They are brilliant comedians. Lucy helped me with some of the comedic beats of that scene. It’s always a pleasure to learn from great actors. The same goes for working with Michael (Hurst). It was like a master class everyday on set with him.

...We are going to Cannes in a few weeks to present the film and we will hear shortly after our presentation what the plans are for its release.

It's Official - No Xena Movie...

Well we all kind of figured this was going to happen (or more to the point not happen) but now Rob has confirmed it. There will be NO Xena movie (at least not with Lucy and Renee in the roles).

Brent  Hartinger interviewed Rob and sent me a note to alert me to his interview.

Posted on 21 April 2009 by Brent Hartinger, Editor

Rob Tapert, the co-creator of television’s Xena: Warrior Princess, has given up hope that there will ever be a feature film version of the classic show, at least not any time soon or starring series leads Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor.

“It’s something that just won’t happen,” Tapert told TheTorchOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “I don’t think it’s going to happen for Lucy and Renee. In twenty years or ten years, in some amount of years, like McGyver, like Charlie’s Angels, it [could] happen like that [with other actresses].”

Starship Site Update on Mini Fundraiser

Starship's official site has an update on the Goodbye Pork Pie Mini Event. The event raised $116,000:

Joined by 37 teams, each pledging to raise money for Starship, the run took place over Easter beginning in Kaitaia and finishing in Invercargill – just as it did in the 1981 film.

A staggering $116,000 has been raised from the event and will be put towards two Tissue Oxygen Monitors for Starship's Intensive Care Unit which treats critically ill children from around the country. These monitors measure essential oxygen levels in the brain, kidney and digestive tract helping medical staff to keep a close watch on patient's vital oxygen levels during surgery and to determine the correct course of treatment.

AUSXIP Auction Final Tally

Hi folks,

I have to say I am beyond stoked about this figure - I'm thrilled to tiny little bits that in this economic tough time, people have been so generous with their time, their money and their willingness to give for the greater good.

I've just received the final figure from Starship together with the ROC Outreach Fund and Adrienne's charity.

The figure comes to $18,165.24

Last year we raised $16,173.86 which is an increase of $1992!

I want to take the time to thank my two sidekicks - Roger and Christa for their hard work in shipping everything out and the support they have given me throughout the auction. I'm so proud of them and also proud of this fandom. Thank you also goes to those who came up to me at the last convention or emailed and gave me items or offered their help and in particular Julie Eaton, Kim Manrique, Mesh & Bev,  KG MacGregor, Val Foster, Barbara Bruno, Marilyn Edwards, Tiger and Tracy. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone. You guys rock.

I also want to take the time to thank our Xena alumni who took the time to make this auction even more special: Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor, Adrienne Wilkinson, Katherine Fugate, Steven Sears, Melissa Good and Simone Lahbib (who isn't a Xena alumni but took the time to help out and has been adopted as one).

Thank you everyone!

MaryD

Battlestar Galactica DVD News

The following is from TVshowsonDVD site which has info about the upcoming show Caprica. It also has info about the release of BSG 4.5 DVD release and for the complete series:

One is a straight-on look at the DVD packaging for Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series, including a Cylon Centurion action figure which apparently comes with the set. Next is an angled look at the same item. Finally is a shot of the individual season and half-season sets that make up the package for The Complete Series, which the trailer points out is sold separately. Noticeably abset from that last shot? A look at the packaging for the separate Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.5 DVD set, which hasn't been formally announced by the studio yet, either, but is generally expected to be available on the same July 28th release date.

As we've already reported, the Season 4.5 and The Complete Series releases are meant to include additional scenes not seen anywhere before, as well as new bonus material. The Complete Series will also include Razor, of course (as well each of the various webisode runs); the Caprica trailer apparently confirms all of this. Here are a look at those four screen captures; stay tuned for updates and further developments!

Vote for Lucy - AfterEllen Poll

Posted on AfterEllen.com - Hot 100.

It's time for The AfterEllen.com Hot 100 again! Time to tell the world who lesbian and bi women think are sexy — because even with all the increased visibility we've had in the last decade, heterosexual men and women still dominate the discussion about who and what is attractive, online, on TV, and in magazines like People and Maxim.

Which makes creating this list not only fun, but a little bit revolutionary.

In the form below, you can submit your nominations for the 10 women you think are the hottest women on the planet. They can be gay or straight, young or old, and of any race or nationality — basically, any woman who turns you on. The woman with the most votes will be No. 1, the woman with the second highest number of votes will be No. 2, and so on down the list (which means it doesn't matter in what order you list the names in the form).

Voting will stay open for two weeks until April 24th, and then we'll publish the results on Monday, May 11th. To keep you entertained in between, we'll feature one of the 100 on the blog each weekday from April 27th to May 8th, and you can guess where she landed on the list.

This year, you can also submit nominees for companion lists in the following categories: 10 Hottest Out Lesbian/Bi Women, 10 Hottest Women of Color, and 10 Hottest Women Over 40. And yes, you can nominate someone for more than one list. To submit up to 5 nominees in each of these separate polls just click on the relevant icon (before or after completing your Hot 100 submissions below):

Lucy at Mini's 50th Birthday Starship Event

Lucy was scheduled to attend the celebration of the Mini's 50th birthday in New Zealand according to this site - The aim is to raise $100,000 for the Starship Foundation.

The Mini is celebrating it's 50th birthday with one of our famous films. Mini enthusiasts all over the country are paying tribute to the British cult car by emulating "Goodbye Pork Pie".

A 37-strong convoy of old and new Minis left Kaitaia this afternoon, traveling south and arriving in Invercargill on Tuesday. Stop-overs and festivities planned along the way include open air cinemas and a special guest appearance by Lucy Lawless. The aim is to raise $100,000 for the Starship Foundation.

War With No Guns Documentary Update

Sharon has confirmed that Lucy will be doing this documentary as reported on 31 March 2009. Check out the message Sharon has posted on the Official Xena Fan Club Page

The following was posted here on 31 March 2009 about an upcoming chat with the filmmaker for the documentry:

War with No Guns – director William Watson
Documentary – feature, currently in production

In the documentary War With No Guns narrator Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”) asks a simple question; In an age of civil war and conflict how do we create lasting peace? To answer one of the world’s most burning questions we will journey to Bougainville Island in Papua New Guinea and revisit New Zealand’s entry into the Pacific’s most brutal civil war. In an unprecedented example of peacekeeping, a multinational force, led by New Zealand, chose to leave their guns behind and instead bring guitars and hakas (New Zealand Maori war dance) as their weapons of choice. War With No Guns looks at the fascinating story of how a war was fought without guns, by an army who united the people to peace.

I think we are up to #5 and I tell you I wouldn't have added a link to it but it does have Lucy..well her voice and her stomach/elbow.

Lucy Mention in Bedtime Stories Interview

Bedtime Stories Interview Q&A with Adam Shankman on the LI Kids site contains the following Q&A about Lucy

QUESTION: Why cast Lucy Lawless?

ADAM SHANKMAN: When she auditioned she came in wearing this crazy red wig. She was hysterical. One day near the end of the movie when we were shooting the blowing up of the school, she was bored. All of a sudden, I looked up during the filming of a crowd scene and there was Lucy in a hat and sunglasses, walking around with the extras. She always added such fun stuff. There is a lot of stuff with Lucy and Guy that was cut out of the movie, but I hope it will be on the DVD. It was so funny! They had this crazy relationship in the movie.

Bedtime Stories Lucy Interview Transcript

The following transcript was posted on the blurayauthoritay.com website:

New Zealander Lucy Lawless became an international television icon in the 1990s as the apparently fearless star of Xena: Warrior Princess. The part seemed tailor made for the athletic actress who’d originally intended to be an opera singer (until she’d discovered that opera singers follow a strict diet and can’t stay out all night), yet after 134 episodes Lawless called it a day and has spent most of the last few years raising her three children: Daisy, 19; Julius, 9; and Judah, 6.

“Now my kids are relinquishing me and I’m ready to go back to work,” Lawless says with a laugh.

The actress dipped her toe in the water with a guest starring part in the last two seasons of Battlestar Galactica and has now been cast in her first major film role in recent years. Bedtime Stories is a Disney family comedy starring Adam Sandler and, alongside Lawless, a cast which also includes Courtney Cox, Keri Russell, fast-rising British comic Russell Brand, Richard Griffiths, and Australian actor Guy Pearce.
