The following is from FilmJerk.com site

His aunt, Katherine Clayton, is described as being in her mid-30s and runs Greystoke Industries’ media division. Described as “beautiful, sharp, sophisticated, witty and acerbic, she never passes up an opportunity to be the thorn in her brother’s side (named Richard, he will be played by Mitch Pileggi). She often uses her newspaper and media holdings to expose his corporate scandals and misdeeds.

Katherine lives in the Clayton ancestral home, a Beaux Art behemoth on Fifth Avenue where Tarzan comes to live as well. She is as surprised as anybody when caring for her long-lost nephew brings up warm, nurturing impulses she never knew she had. When Richard tries to control Tarzan to further his own corporate agenda, Katherine becomes as protective and fierce as a lioness. This character will be signed to appear in 10 out of the initial 13 episodes ordered by the network; should the series do well in the ratings, it will be picked up for the last 9 episodes, bringing it to a full season’s order.

Zap2It has announced that Lucy will be in a new show called Tarzan which airs 5 October in the US

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Xena's warrior cry is about to make beautiful music with Tarzan's monkey holler.

Lucy Lawless is joining the cast of The WB's "Tarzan" in the crucial (but only recently added) part of Tarzan's aunt.

The Kiwi actress will play Kathleen Clayton, a publishing magnate and younger sister of Mitch Pileggi's Richard Clayton, the acting head of Greystoke Industries. Kathleen and Richard have very different ideas of how to handle their recently rediscovered nephew Jack (Travis Fimmel). Richard believes that Tarzan must be rehabilitated and reintroduced to non-simian society, while Kathleen wants to give the monkey man time to find his own way.

Both may have ulterior motives, as they know that whoever controls Tarzan also controls Greystoke.

"Lucy has a tremendous sense of humor, warmth and grace," says The WB's Entertainment President Jordan Levin. "She has a fun, larger-than-life personality that will shape the character of Kathleen Clayton as she makes it her own and that is what attracted us to her for future development."

Lawless, who starred in "Xena: Warrior Princess" from 1995 until 2001, is only signed as a regular for the show's first season. Her deal with The WB also includes an exclusive series development deal for the 2004-2005 season.

"Tarzan" reunites Lawless with executive producer Laura Ziskin, who performed the same duties on "Spider-Man," which featured a small cameo from Gabrielle's former bosom buddy.

September 2003

Character name: Kathleen Clayton

Lucy plays Tarzan's aunt who tries to help him. The character is a series regular and is introduced in the pilot episode. She is described as a strong female character (something Lucy knows all about...)

Her character is described as:

"Kathleen (or Katherine) Clayton the witty, sardonic and beautiful newspaper publisher who is Tarzan's aunt. While Richard believes that his desire to rehabilitate Tarzan and make him a real member of society is in Tarzan's own best interest, Kathleen believes that what Tarzan really needs is their help and support as he finds his own way in this strange new world. Now that their nephew has returned from the dead as Tarzan, Richard and Kathleen have squared off in a new battle. While they are both driven by love - for Tarzan and for the family - they also know that whoever controls Tarzan, controls Greystoke Industries as well. "

In a recent USAToday.com article it made mention of the Katherine character

For cost reasons, the pilot won't be reshot. But a new "part two" of the pilot will add a new nemesis for the evil uncle — his publishing-magnate sister, who protects her nephew Tarzan — while setting up a story line that drives a wedge between Tarzan and Jane to explain their separation. "At the end of the second part there will be no questions for the audience of what the show is going to be week to week," Litvack says.

The role was initially given to another actress Jenna Stern but in August 2003, Jenna was released from that role as Kathleen Clayton (the character got a name change to Katherine Clayton).

The wonderful Tarzantheseries.com site has an excellent interview with Jenna which gives the above insights into the character.
