NZ TV Owes A Lot to Rob Tapert for Xena - NZ Listener Magazine 24 February 2017

NZ Listener Magazine had a brief mention of Xena which is shown on cable tv in New Zealand and said "it’s fair to say that our local TV creatives owe a lot to producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi..."

Xena: Warrior Princess (The Zone, Sky 009, 4.10pm weekdays). We declare girl-power week. The spin-off that became bigger than its progenitor ( Hercules: The Legendary Journeys); made Lucy Lawless a hero to girls and women everywhere; and prepared a generation of Kiwi crew for Oscar glory on The Lord of the Rings.

The West Auckland television production industry may have waxed and waned since Xena’s last episode in 2001, but it’s fair to say that our local TV creatives owe a lot to producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi.

Video and Images: Lucy at Go Red for Women Event 09 February 2017

Lucy attended the Go Red for Women event which seeks to highlight the dangers of heart disease in women. Heart disease kills more women than breast cancer – that’s a sobering thought isn’t it?

Go Red For Women official site is located here: https://www.goredforwomen.org/

Go Red For Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them the tools they need to lead a heart healthy life.

Watch Lucy showcase Nicole Miller’s beautiful red design.

The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® Red Dress Collection™ 2017 presented by Macy’s is an exclusive event where top designers, models and celebrities demonstrate their support for women’s heart health during New York Fashion Week. Founded by The Heart Truth®, the event reminds women of the need to protect their heart health, inspiring them to make a change because cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 1 in 3 women each year – about one women every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be preventable with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red For Women encourages all women to get informed, make the time to “Know Your Numbers” and inspire friends and loved ones to lead healthier lives.

Lucy has modelled some of Nicole Miller’s designs before and in 2010 in NZ for NZ Fashion Week – click here to read the article

In 2005 Lucy was interviewed as part of a documentary about women and heart disease called Heartbeat To Heartbeat – see the AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Heartbeat To Heartbeat subsite. Here is the video of Lucy’s segment only
