Ides of March Xena Art and Fan Fiction by Texbard!

It's Caesar's favourite time of the year! It's the Ides of March and what better way to celebrate it than to showcase some art and some fanfic!

Artwork is by MaryD (me!) and fanfic by Texbard!

March The 16th
This story begins on March 16th, the day after the 4th season cliffhanger "The Ides of March." I can hardly wait to see how they resolve it, and it is definitely one of my favorites. So, I’ve used my imagination a little and this is how I’d like to see it go . . .

Video: Lucy at 2018 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

Lucy attended the 2018 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras which was held over the weekend in Sydney. It was the 40th anniversary of the Mardi Gras in Sydney – it started as a protest march which got quite violent – 53 men and women were arrested and while in their cells they were beaten. reported that

Thanks to those men and women, by April 1979, the Parliament of New South Wales repealed legislation that had allowed the arrests to be made and created a new Public Assemblies Act which meant Sydneysiders no longer had to apply for a permit to have a demonstration. The first Mardi Gras was hence a major civil rights milestone as well as the beginning of an iconic celebration of self-expression.

40 years later to 3 March 2018 and a whole new level of acceptance and marriage equality has bloomed in Australia.

Lucy has been a HUGE supporter of the LGBTQI community for many many years and before the Mardi Gras, she attended the 2018 LGBTI Awards in Sydney.  At the Mardi Gras, Lucy stopped by to talk to the hosts of the telecast for SBS TV.

Alright fess up. Who were the Xenites dressed as Xena at the 2018 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras who told Lucy Lawless to go away? FESS UP! :)In her interview with the AWESOME @MagdaSzubanski Lucy said she was told to go away. Hysterical. For those wondering who Fred Nile is (Lucy addresses her remarks towards the end of the interview) Fred Nile is the leader of the Christian Democratic party in the upper house of the New South Wales Parliament (Sydney is the capital of New South Wales state). He's an anti-gay right wing politician (I cleaned this up a little because negativity is banned on AUSXIP) for MANY years. Mr Nile is not a nice man.

Here’s Lucy’s interview
