Thelma and Louise and Their Fiercest Daughters Xena and Gabrielle

There is a great article about the iconic movie Thelma and Louise (one of my all time favourite movies). Naturally Xena and Gabrielle are listed coming after Thelma and Louise as their "fiercest daughters"

Original article here is here and here is what they say about Xena & Gab...

In an anything-is-possible landscape rooted in ancient Greek mythology, towering titan Xena (Lucy Lawless) and petite powerhouse Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor) travel as a twosome righting wrongs, battling fantastical creatures, and bonding through fierceness affection for one another to face down and triumph over every imaginable adversary.

Thelma and Louise have each other. Xena and Gabrielle choose each other. Both duos defined the unbeatable power of fused female fury.

Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 1 DVD & BluRay For August 2016 Release

The first season of Ash Vs Evil Dead will soon be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on 23 August 2016. Lucy plays Ruby Knowby.

Image635993255217904000“Ash vs Evil Dead,” a 10-episode, half-hour series, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner. The series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio (“Chuck”), who serves as executive producer and showrunner.”

Price is: $21.83 USD

Lucy to Perform IN 2016 Bloomsday Celebration 16 June In Auckland

Image635991109407038895

Lucy is once again participating in the annual Bloomsday celebrations to honor James Joyce’s novel Ulysses.

You can check out Lucy’s previous performance in 2014 - Bloomsday - 16 June 2014 (video and images)

PRESS RELEASE

Lucy Lawless & Michael Hurst Team Up for Worm-crawling Dungheap.

It’s a dazzling line-up for Auckland’s annual Bloomsday celebration on June 16. Appearing again this year are international stars Lucy Lawless and Michael Hurst from the epic sandals & skirts TV soap Xena, Warrior Princess.

Lucy Lawless will be playing Gerty MacDowell, lonely seaside siren of Sandymount Rocks. Michael Hurst will be turning the broody, abstract Stephen Dedalus into a song & dance man. They will be joined by Geraldine Brophy, one of NZ’s foremost TV and movie actors, and Bruce Hopkins -Gamling in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Geraldine Brophy will be reading the really unrestrained parts of Molly Bloom’s unrestrained soliloquy.

Bruce Hopkins will appear once more as the fearful and fearsome transvestite dominatrix Bella Cohen, transmogrifying this year into Helen of Mt Albert, imperious Queen of the World, the face that lunched a thousand countries. Music will come from Linn Lorkin & the Jews Brothers Band, mezzo soprano Yuko Takahashi, Jean McAllister, tenor Chris Trotter.

Dublin actor Brian Keegan will be reading, Farrel Cleary will be performing graciously and union organiser Joe Carolan ungraciously. The show takes place one night only, June 16—a Thursday this year—and will be at the Thirsty Dog in K Rd’s red-light area, a fitting location for a subject once described as, “a heap of dung, crawling with worms, photographed by a cinema apparatus through a microscope… All the secret sewers of vice are canalised in its flood of unimaginable thoughts, images and pornographic words.”

Bloomsday is the celebration of a single day, June 16, 1904, the setting of James Joyce’s great comic novel, Ulysses. On that single all-including day Joyce re-imagines Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey unfolding out onto the streets and seaside and red-light district of Dublin in 1904. Homer’s hero Odysseus becomes a Dublin Jew, Leopold Bloom. Around the world Bloomsday is celebrated on June 16.

Aucklanders and Auckland performers have taken the annual event to heart and London’s Guardian newspaper has listed the Auckland Bloomsday as one of the best.

When: Thu 16 Jun 2016, 7:30pm–10:30pm

Where: The Thirsty Dog, 469 Karangahape Rd, Newton, Auckland

Restrictions:All Ages

Ticket Information: Door Sales Only

Xena: Warrior Princess: Why Xena and Gabrielle never got together + EW Issue #1414 Scans

Image

Entertainment Weekly has an article about Xena and looking back on twenty years. The print version has an interview with Rob, Lucy and Renee - see below for scans. You can read the online version here

Aside from the anguish over — 15-year-old spoiler alert! — Xena’s death in the series finale, one of the biggest questions that came out of Xena: Warrior Princess is why the titular hero (Lucy Lawless) and her bard Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor) never become a couple.

As discussed at length in our Xena oral history in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, soon after the show’s 1995 debut, fans of the syndicated series, particularly those within the LGBT community, breathed life into the relationship. “The name Xena means ‘stranger,’” Lawless says of the former warlord spared by Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) to embark on a journey of redemption. “She felt she was irredeemable. That friendship between Xena and Gabrielle transmitted some message of self-worth, deservedness, and honor to people who felt very marginalized, so it had a lot of resonance in the gay community.”
