I'm a huge fan of Android powered phones (I use a HTC Desire which is just fabulous!) so I was quite happy to read the following news although I suspect this is only for those in the US (or maybe not..have to try out the app and find out if it works outside the US.

ImageSony Pictures Entertainment's Crackle Inc. today announced the launch of the first full-length movie and television application for the Android platform. The Crackle app streams full-length, unedited blockbuster movies and television series as well as Crackle's popular slate of original series.

"The cutting edge Crackle app provides Android users with movies and television offerings in their favorite genres – like they have come to love on the site," said Eric Berger, Sony Pictures Television's Senior Vice President, Digital Networks. "The launch of the Crackle app is the next step in making Crackle a go-to destination across all platforms."

The Crackle app reflects Crackle.com's unique editorial voice, furthering its mission to provide curated content from the genres its audience cares about most: action, comedy, crime, horror, thriller and sci-fi.

The Crackle app is available as a free download offering access to the network's roster of original programming and Minisodes—television episodes that have been condensed to just a few minutes. Users who upgrade to the premium service will gain access to high quality, full-length, television shows and blockbuster films from Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures Classics and more. At launch, users will have access to hundreds of TV episodes and movies, with new movies and TV series being added every month. The premium service costs $4.99 a month, with three and six month options also available.

The Crackle app offers feature films such as LA FEMME NIKITA, Bram Stoker's DRACULA, TAXI DRIVER, DRUNKEN MASTER, GODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S., CHEECH & CHONG'S NICE DREAMS, GO, LOSER and LA BAMBA, as well as television series including "Married with Children," "Charlie's Angels," "Ten Items or Less," "Spider-Man," and "NewsRadio." Users also have access to Crackle's original series including the record-breaking hit "The Bannen Way," with Robert Forster and Michael Ironside, and "Angel of Death," starring Zoe Bell and Lucy Lawless.

To find the app, Android users can go to the Android Market and search for "Crackle," or find it in the Entertainment section.

Crackle's app works over both Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
