Seeing more of NZ Actors on Screen
Film NZ and NZ Film Commission are sponsoring this seminar series which is free to professional actors and industry professionals.
It's a chance to hear from directors and casting directors about what they want from actors in auditions, and on set. During the first session casting director Tina Cleary (Boy, Home By Christmas, Emperor and Jane Campion's current series Top of the Lake) and acting coach Miranda Harcourt (Bright Star, The Lovely Bones, Soul Surfer) will use direct on-screen examples from American and NZ auditions. They will be joined by a guest actors, fresh from shooting Top of the Lake in Queenstown.
The following week there's the chance to upgrade your American accent free - with renowned accent coach Jacque Drew (Bridge to Terabithia, Emperor).
In response to questions and comments from actors, directors, casting directors and producers Tina and Miranda will explore how we can advance local actors' audition technique and 'castability'.
NZ is increasingly attracting international productions such as Top of the Lake and Emperor. NZ actors and agents eager to make sure that local talent scores great roles, and Film NZ and the NZFC are keen to support local talent on screen.
