John Wathen presents his eye witness account of the Gulf disaster which will include a short film and discussion. Status update on New Zealand’s deep sea oil threat follows.

John is an environmental photo journalist from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was at ground zero during the catastrophic Gulf of Mexico deep sea oil drilling disaster, and chartered a plane to fly over the oil spill capturing compelling images of the spill as it developed.

Since 2010 John has continued to document the after-effects of the oil spill and the impacts upon coastal communities.
