DEAR NANCY: No news since Lawless’ last update on the topic a few weeks ago, when she told fans via Twitter that although there was talk of a new “Xena” project, she wasn’t advising anyone to hold out hopes for it to happen soon. In fact, she wondered whether she’ll be too old to play the role by the time the powers that hold rights to the popular “Xena: Warrior Princess” franchise realize how valuable it is. Meanwhile, the 45-year-old actress is set to play jailer Mama Morton in a Hollywood Bowl production of “Chicago” July 26-28. Samantha Banks is playing Velma, Drew Carey is Amos, Stephen Moyer is Billy. It’s being directed by Brooke Shields.
