The Top 20 TV Spin Off Shows of All-Time - Xena!

Sometimes a character on a TV show becomes so popular that viewers want to see more and more of them, so much so that the original TV show is no longer capable of meeting their needs. Other times a TV show plants the seeds of a narrative that is too promising to be neglected but too big to be crammed into its initial confines, meaning that it needs its own TV show to flourish. Whatever the exact cause, there have been numerous spin-offs on the TV screen, including a fair number that were outstanding on their own merits.

Here are 20 of the top TV spin-offs of all time:

ImageNumber 8: Xena: Warrior Princess

Xena started out as a recurring character who was scheduled to die after three episodes on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. However, she became so popular that she received her own TV show, Xena: Warrior Princess, which became so popular that it soon surpassed its source. As a result, there is still a cult following for the TV show as well as hundreds and hundreds of tie-in products, which speak volumes about its continuing influence.

Looking for Australian and NZ Xena Fans For Australian Magazine Feature On How Xena Changed Your Life

xena-reunion-photo

If you are Aussie and or a Kiwi Xenite, this notice is for you.

I've been contacted by the Features Writer of That's Life magazine here in Australia. They would like to feature a Xena superfan (which is pretty much every fan) and in particular women who have been really touched by Xena in some way (I didn't write that, Beth, the features writer wrote that). They are looking for fans who have been inspired by the show and how that has changed their lives ie (having a Xena themed wedding, changing some major in your life etc).

It would involve a phone interview and sending some pics. The article is not a gotcha interview (if you are worried about this). You will have a chance to preview the article in full before it goes to print.
So, if you are interested, get in touch with me and I'll give Beth your details.

Requirements:

- You must be an Australian or New Zealand Xena fan.
- Xena must have touched your life and you have made changes because of her
- You're willing to tell your story

Okay? Awesome. If you are that fan, contact me on http://ausxip.com/contact.html

Australian New Idea: Lucy Lawless makes appearance at the LGBTI Awards

Image636437862177981167Lucy Lawless makes appearance at the LGBTI Awards

The former Xena Warrior Princess actress looks very different these days - by New Idea
March 2017

She made her name as the star of hit TV series Xena: Warrior Princess, but Lucy Lawless looks virtually unrecognizable from her former fierce fantasy character.

The 48-year-old New Zealand actress attended the LGBTI Awards in Sydney earlier this week where she presented actress Ruby Rose with an award.

Since leaving the popular ‘90s show, Lucy has gone on to star in Two And A Half Men, Battlestar Gallactica, Spartacus and Parks and Recreation.

She has three children, a daughter Daisy from her first marriage to Garth Lawless, as well as two sons to current partner Rob Tapert.

Pleasurdome News Including Updated FAQ

pleasuredomebanner2017-004There has been some changes to the Pleasuredome FAQ (which is below) – one of the major ones is the VIP Tickets which used to cost $255 to $300 no longer available. There was some major issues with the food etc so I’m glad they didn’t continue with this. In it’s place is you can order from the tables at $20 a head. A nice compromise there.

This is one hell of a great show and a super night out – grab your friends, find those legwarmers and boogie on down to 1984! You can check out my review of the show if you are not convinced (seriously? Lucy’s in it. Lucy’s singing and the ENTIRE cast is absofrigginlutely awesome.) The entire thing from the moment you pass through the subway doors leading to the New York street it’s AWESOME. I need to find a thesaurus to get more words that mean BLOODY FANTASTIC. You get the idea. Not sure what Lucy’s role in the show is? Lucy's role is Sappho in Pleasuredome Musical head on over to AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Pleasuredome subsite!

Petition to Save Ash Vs Evil Dead!

RubyAs some of you may know, the second season of Starz’s “Ash vs Evil Dead” was announced before the first season even aired. The same is true of the upcoming third season.

But it seems, however popular the show is among horror fans, a fourth (or fifth) season may not be in the cards.

That said a group of fans has already set up a petition over at Change.org to save “Ash vs Evil Dead” and they need your help!

You can find the petition’s full rundown below and the link to provide your own John Hancock. Give it a look.

Petition rundown:

We need your help get Ash vs Evil Dead renewed for Season 4.

Before the original premiere of the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead, us, primitive screw heads, had been waiting for the return of Bruce Campbell’s ‘Groovy’ Ash J. Williams for some 20 odd years. And now that it’s here, It is everything we could have hoped for and more! Thank STARZ! However, that being said, STARZ recently changed the AvED premiere date of it’s new season from it’s usual October time-slot to that of February 2018 while also keeping rather quiet on all things AvED – making us fans a little nervous, y’see. So, this petition is to show STARZ that there is still a HUGE fan base supporting STARZ and AvED’s broadcasting. All we want is to see STARZ, Bruce, Sam and Rob wrap up the iconic Evil Dead franchise, well, iconically! And the way to do that is with 2 more seasons!

Don’t forget to share on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any other social media! Hail to the King, Baby!

Sign today right HERE!

What We Learn About Evil Ruby in Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 3

Image636433049233599517

Just days after Starz announced the Season 3 premiere date for Ash vs Evil Dead, fans have been given the first look into the new gore-tastic installment. The photos indicate another bloody good time for Ash, Pablo and Kelly while they defend the world from evil — and they have some new members on their crew.

Here's the official plot synopsis for the third season premiering on Starz this February:

“The third season finds Ash’s status in Elk Grove, Michigan has changed from murderous urban legend to humanity-saving hometown hero. When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. Blood is thicker than water in the battle of good vs Evil Dead!”

Evil Ruby

The first image gives fans a closer look at the alternate Ruby spreading her evil after killing present-day Ruby and escaping banishment at the end of last season. This Ruby looks to be the newest adversary and leader of the demon world.

The loss of present-day Ruby will put the group at a noticeable disadvantage without her strength and knowledge of the Deadite manifestation. We see quite a few victims in that barn — is alternate Ruby looking for crucial information? Maybe about a specific family member of Ash?

Photos and Video from the Pride Parade at Pleasuredome!

The cast of Pleasuredome came out after the show ended (and they had to be exhausted from that high energy show) to spread the love and support Marriage Equality in Australia. Here in Oz we are trying to get into the 21st century and allow same sex couples to marry just like heterosexual couples have the right. So hopefully the vote with be a resounding YES come November. Lucy and the rest of the cast added their voices to the YES Vote across the ditch.

Lucy gave an fantastic speech – Bravo Lucy and the rest of the cast.

Here are some photos and many thanks to those who for posting these on their Instagram account – the GORGEOUS and EXTREMELY talented James Luck is in the white dress.

PLEASUREDOME. Last night there was a parade and some of the cast & crew came out to party with the crowd.

Ash Vs Evil Dead is back for Season 3 and will air on the Starz channel on 25 Feb. Starz has released two Lucy as Ruby related images.

Lucy Lawless 20 Years Later Still Kicking Ass and the Ash Vs Evil Dead Lucy Image Galleries!

Before we get to the Kicking Ass image, I have to tell you about the AUSXIP server issues I'm having. It seem certain portions of the site/s haven't migrated properly (grrr) and I'm only finding them because I'm about to update them and they are not there (eg image galleries). This happened with the Ash vs Evil Dead gallery on the Lucy site today. PLEASE if you get an error message when you go to any section of AUSXIP, please contact me - AUSXIP is a monster site and sometimes I won't get around to finding the problem for quite some time. So if you find a problem, please report it to me.

So. I have the technology, I have rebuilt it (sorry couldn't resist...I am a bionic geek at heart and it was my first love/crush/sigh). Anyhoo...lookee the image galleries are working again!

Video: Lucy on the Guy Williams Show 5 October 2017

This has to be one of the weirdest (and funniest) interviews Lucy has done. Of course it’s from New Zealand and she was there to promote Pleasuredome but talked more about Xena. She was once again asked to do the war cry. The look on her face when the host started to do it had me laughing.

and here is the interview.

and just because we all love to hear Lucy doing the Xena War Cry…the following video is the one I shot from the 2012 Auckland Concert. I was perched on a fireplace – high above the crowd and Anika Moa managed to get Lucy to do the Xena war cry during her Auckland concert. Very funny banter between them just after they returned for an encore.

The third season finds Ash’s status in Elk Grove, Michigan has changed from murderous urban legend to humanity-saving hometown hero. When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. Blood is thicker than water in the battle of good vs Evil Dead!

Pleasuredome: Sappho’s Anthem–I’m On Fire!

Lucy is talking about Pleasuredome in the post on Facebook. Sappho, her character, falls in love with Lilith, a younger woman who is the daughter of the property developer who wants to knock down the Pleasuredome club. As you can see that will cause massive complications!

Sappho sings “I’m On Fire” and it has become a fan favourite at the shows. For obvious reasons because Lucy sings it beautifully and she is trying to convey her love to Lilith.

Here’s the Boss singing it:

You don’t know what Pleasuredome is? Where have you been, in a coma or a cave without internet connection? Never mind you’re online now and reading this. For more about Lucy's role as Sappho in Pleasuredome Musical head on over to AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Pleasuredome subsite and then to go to ticketek and get yourself a ticket. Trust me, you’re going to come away with the urge to go buy another ticket for the following day. Give in to that urge.

Sappho is a glorious addiction – Lilli seems to think so!

If you haven’t read my review of Pleasuredome…why not? Oh wait yes you were in a coma or in cave without internet access. Go here to read my LONG review (It’s almost the length of a novella – I had A LOT to say).

Press Release: Love NZ

First national campaign to raise awareness about litter in New Zealand since the 1980s

AUCKLAND, 2 October 2017 –Love NZ and Be a Tidy Kiwi have launched a joint TV advertising campaign to encourage New Zealanders to “Put Litter in its Place.” The TV Commercial developed by BrandWorld features Lucy Lawless and Ian Mune and will initially run for six weeks on TV1 and 2 with a separate digital campaign being launched. The message from Lucy and Ian is “Let’s Put Litter in its Place. It’s just how we do things around here.”

The campaign is linked to a national behavioural change programme and investment in new and upgraded rubbish/recycling infrastructure that use smart technology to minimise overflow and reduce collection costs. The new vibrant bins which feature signage in multiple languages will be introduced in Marlborough, Queenstown Lakes, Rotorua, Tauranga and Wellington during October and November.

The campaign is managed by The Packaging Forum and the Auckland Litter Prevention Steering Group which manages the Be a Tidy Kiwi brand and comprises Auckland Council, Keep Auckland Beautiful, Auckland Motorways (NZ Transport Agency) and KiwiRail and is supported by councils around the country.

Richard Leckinger, Program Manager for Be a Tidy Kiwi says “There has been no national campaign about litter since the 1980s and this new campaign is intended to nudge New Zealanders into thinking before they litter. We are very pleased to be bringing together two of New Zealand’s iconic brands, Love NZ and Be a Tidy Kiwi to kick-start awareness and the motivation to make a change.”

Lyn Mayes, Manager at The Packaging Forum, says “Our membership includes around 70% of the 100 most often littered brands and they will be working with us to bring the Let’s Put Litter in its Place message to their consumers. We also encourage those Fast Food, Snack Food and Beverages brands who don’t fund recycling and waste management through our schemes to get behind the campaign and be part of the solution.”

The $2.4 million project has received $1.72 million funding from The Government’s Waste Minimisation Fund and will be supported by in kind investment by industry and local government to increase the reach of this national advertising campaign.
