Video: Parks and Recreation S6 Ep1–Ron and Diane Get Married

Parks and Recreation kicked off its sixth season with a whirlwind wedding. Diane (Lucy Lawless) got married to Ron Swanson! TV Guide wrote:

The premiere picked up just moments after last year's finale, in which Diane (Lucy Lawless) went to Ron's office to break the news that she was pregnant. It takes Ron less than 20 seconds after finding out she's carrying his child before he asks her to be his wife. The proposal and impromptu wedding then happens within the first four minutes of the premiere, as the duo heads upstairs to get their marriage license and then tie the knot right there in the office.

Oops sorry you can see this? You need flash

Last season, Lawless signed on for a short guest stint as a potential love interest for Ron Swanson. Her character was meant to be the exact opposite of his past failed relationships with his various Tammys (Offerman's real-life wife Megan Mullally and Patricia Clarkson).

"The relationship was conceived with the idea that we've seen how Ron fails in his relationship choices. What if we put him in a situation he might succeed?" Offerman says. "He'd be given the chance to actually have a real relationship instead of these manic trysts with his assorted Tammys. We knew there was the potential for it to go somewhere, but at the time, we didn't know where it would be going."

and in another TV Guide article:

10. Best Quickie: In the opening moments of the new season of Parks and Recreation, Ron's girlfriend Diane (Lucy Lawless) reveals that she's pregnant, to which Ron responds not with shock or concern, but with an engagement ring (in a carved wooden box, natch). They decide to get married right then and there and drag Leslie and Amy up to the fourth floor for their quickie ceremony. Just as Ron and Diane are about to exchange "I do's," Diane tells the clerk her middle name is Tammy — the name of Ron's mom and two ex-wives — before she quickly assures him that she's kidding. Looks like Ron's truly met that special someone who truly completes him ... and we're not talking about that steak he had for dinner.

Here’s a mention in TV Guide on Parks and Recreation Cast Teases Five Big Moments in Season 6

3. Ron and Diane are going to have a baby:
The meat-loving, woodworking everyman has finally met his match in Diane, played by Lucy Lawless, who will return in the season premiere. But don't expect Ron Swanson to miss a step when he learns that his lady love is actually pregnant. "With all things, Ron doesn't get his panties in too much of a bundle," Offerman says. "He will deal with the birth of a new child with the same aplomb that he would treat any animal husbandry or gardening. Ron has a very solid disposition, so by and large, he probably will remain unflappable." But don't forget, there's also the possibility of this on the horizon.

and on 2 August 2013 they had an article about Who will be getting married in Season 6...(I’ve included the sections that deal with Lucy from various tvguide articles...)

Ron (Nick Offerman) and Diane (Lucy Lawless), who found out she was pregnant in the season finale, seem like the next likely candidates. Schur even called Diane Ron's wife in a recent interview with us, though clarified later that that was inadvertent. "They're in a similar position to Chris and Ann," he says. "Ron is very single-minded and very passionate about what he's passionate about. He's very definitive in his actions and I think that over the course of this season, you'll see that play out

Now that Diane is pregnant, will we be seeing much more of Lucy Lawless?
Schur:
It's a little bit like Ben, only more so because she lives in New Zealand. It's not always up to us whether we can have her. She's definitely going to be on the show in some capacity because of that storyline. We kept that super top secret and we actually got all the way to her showing up on the set without her knowing what she was doing. She showed up like, "OK, what's the scene." "You're pregnant, here's the scene. You have two lines and you're pregnant." That's going to be definitely a huge part of the year for Ron.

Mike Schur said Diane was Ron's wife in your Parks and Recreation interview. Does that mean they're getting married? —Sampson
NATALIE:
I went back to executive producer Mike Schur with that very query and he said his choice of words was likely inadvertent. But there could be a wedding in their future since Ron and Diane are having a baby together. "They are probably the next in line to tie the knot, given the events of the finale," he says.

Code Now Filming in South Australian Border Town – ABC News 23 September 2013

ABC News reports on the filming of the Australian Mini-Series Code with Lucy Lawless has rolled into the small community of Cockburn in South Australia. Lucy’s role is that of a school teacher. You can find out more about Lucy’s role on Code by going to the AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Code Mini-Series subsite

Image635155605217111716Filming on a political thriller TV show starts in Cockburn today.

The small border town has been chosen for the ABC series called CODE that stars Lucy Lawless from Xena the Warrior Princess and David Wenham from movies such as the Lord of the Rings series.

Filming is expected to continue in Cockburn for another two weeks before moving to Broken Hill and Silverton.

Ryan Esam from the Cockburn Progress Association says it will mean a bit of inconvenience for locals who will be without a post office.

"They've selected what's currently our post office, which was originally the Cockburn Rural School, to be a little school that is used in the mini-series," Mr Esam said.

"They're going to come out and do a few modifications - so there's the school, a medical centre, the front of the hotel, a remote phone box - because we still have a phone box out there - so that's part of it - it was just what they needed."

Mr Esam says it will be good for the local economy but also boost the morale of Cockburn's 25 or so residents.

"They went scouting six weeks or two months ago around the area and came out for a drive and fell in love with the place from day one," he said.

"It's pretty exciting when those types of people are running around saying 'we love this' and 'we love that'.

"It's been good fun and it's just what they needed."

CODE is billed as a ''contemporary thriller stretching from the spectacular red desert of Australia's outback to the cool corridors of power''

Press Release: ATC’s Chicago Extended By A Week Till 30 November 2013

qtheatreImage635155599959714339ATC'S CHICAGO extended by a week

Monday, 23 September 2013, 5:28 pm
Press Release: Auckland Theatre Company

Due to high demand, Auckland Theatre Company has EXTENDED the Vodafone season of Chicago season by a week.

The show, which stars Lucy Lawless, Amanda Billing and Shane Cortese and is directed by Michael Hurst, is now open until and including Saturday 30 November at Q Loft. Tickets are available at www.atc.co.nz

Auckland Theatre Company presents

The Vodafone season of Chicago

First she steals my publicity. Then she steals my lawyer, my trial date.
And now she steals my goddamn garter.

Auckland Theatre Company’s outstanding 2013 season ends with a BANG, as Chicago, directed by the musical maestro Michael Hurst and starring Lucy Lawless, Amanda Billing and Shane Cortese, opens at Q Theatre on 1 November.

1920s, Chicago. Cook County Jail is home to a bawdy band of murderesses, all of whom have eradicated their quickly insignificant others. Chanteuses Velma Kelly (Lucy Lawless) and Roxie Hart (Amanda Billings) have both acquired a spot on Death Row. Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton (Colleen Davis) and smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn (Shane Cortese) to turn her incarceration into a media frenzy. But, not one to rest on her laurels, Roxie comes up with a foxy plan to steal back the limelight and, instead of wrangling the law, the two divas find themselves fighting the ultimate battle – the race to superstardom.

Set in the legendary city during the Roaring Twenties, an era renowned for organised crime, alcohol prohibition and the very best jazz, Michael Hurst's version of this razor-sharp show about bad girls behaving badly will bring all the sass, brass and a%$e of his most recent Auckland Theatre Company musical Cabaret (2010).

Of the production, Director Michael Hurst said, “The thing about Chicago is that it underneath all the jazz and the fizz is the pulsing, wild, abandoned and desperate beating heart of a corrupt and exploitative society. It’s a dark, sexy and vicious tale, propelled by extraordinary music – the rhythms of murder and corruption; the rhythms of lust. It’s a revelatory tale of the transience of celebrity. And it’s fabulous.”

Auckland Theatre Company Artistic Director, Colin McColl, said, “The longest-running American musical ever to play the West End, Chicago has garnered a stash of glitzy awards in many revivals worldwide. Michael’s production stars the hottest cast of the year including Lucy Lawless, fresh from her role as Mama Morton in Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Brooke Shields, Stephen Moyer and Ashlee Simpson.”

One of the most famous shows of all time, Chicago contains all the elements of an unadulterated musical – celebrity, scandal, corruption, scantily-clad women and serious jazz hands. With a soundtrack that includes the show-stoppers All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle, When You're Good to Momma and Class, the winner of six Tony Awards, two Oliviers and a Grammy will envelop the Q Auditorium for an unmissable season.

This trial... the whole world... it's all... show business.

Ends

Lucy Tweets About Australian Mini-Series Code 22 September 2013

Lucy was on twitter tonight talking about going to Broken Hill to film Code.

The Daily Dragon on DragonCon.org interviewed Lucy during her three days at DragonCon. She was asked about upcoming projects and she talked about her upcoming mini-series Code. Code is currently being filmed in Sydney, Broken Hill and Canberra. Lucy will be a Teacher in the outback. For more about Lucy’s role in Code, check out the AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Code Subsite

DD: Where are you off to after Dragon Con? Any upcoming projects besides your guest stints on Parks & Rec?

LL: I’m doing a mini series in Australia, a political thriller called The Code. It’s about an indigenous kid in Australia who gets himself embroiled in a horrible nuclear conspiracy. The kid is going to wear all the blame for an accident that happens that’s not much to do with him. I play his teacher in the outback who’s trying to save his ass. They’re up against something way bigger than they can comprehend.

Parks and Recreation Update on Lucy’s Episodes

SplitSider.com has an interview with Mike Schur from Parks and Recreation. Here’s the snippet about Lucy’s role as Diane Lewis (as we know, Diane is now pregnant with Ron’s baby, question is how many episodes are we going to see Lucy in)

So with Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones leaving Parks and Rec, do you have any plans to introduce new cast members, or are you just going to focus more on everyone that you already have?

I don't think we're going to be adding anyone permanently. We have a lot of fun guest stars in the beginning of the year, in part because we're absent Chris Pratt for a number of episodes because he's off shooting that Guardians of the Galaxy movie. You may have seen it, but we brought in Sam Elliott and June Raphael and Billy Eichner and Kristen Bell is doing a guest spot and we have Lucy Lawless back for two episodes.

You can read the full interview here

Nick Offerman is interviewed about the upcoming season and he mentions Lucy’s in this video clip – look for it at 3:51 into the interview. He is rather happy Lucy is back.

Here’s the log line for the first Season 6 episode

Lucy Lawless Beats Charlize Theron NZ Herald 13 September 2013

Thnzherald130913.jpgThe NZ Herald printed an article about the upcoming tour of the South Africans (Rugby..of course) and they previewed the side. Being a little cheeky, they also took a look at who was better - NZ or South Africa in various areas (those kiwis are so funny) such as cooking, films, sports, national parks and movie stars.

NZ Vs SA
NZ Herald 13 September 2013

The All Blacks play traditional rivals South Africa in Eden Park in a match that will likely determine the outcome of the Rugby Championship. The Herald compared other features of the two countries to decide which really is better.

In the Movie Stars category they pitched Lucy up against Charlize Theron (a no brainer IMO but I'm biased).

Click on the scan to find out what they said and why Lucy won that battle!

The plant is a grey tillandsia (follow the link to find out more about the amazing plant) and it seems, from Lucy's message below, that it doesn't require alot to keep it alive and healthy:

Looks like it needs to be spritzed with water. Needs a drink but they draw it from the air so just a spritz will perk him up. His name is Chuy. (Pronounced "Chewy")

News About Lucy as Diane in Parks and Recreation Season 6

Image635148260908706410Parks and Recreation is coming back for another season on 26 September and Lucy also returns. When we last saw Diane (Lucy’s character), she had some baby news to tell Ron.

E Online’s Watch with Kristin has more news about what we can expect:

Aisha: Loved the Amy Poehler interview! She is my queen. Do you have any more Parks and Rec scoop?

Sure do! We just watched the season six premiere, and it's probably going to be one of your all-time favorite 22 minutes of life ever. And we're only slightly exaggerating. Before the opening credits you will find out the status of Ron and Diane after her pregnancy bombshell, and needless to say, Ron takes the news extremely well. In fact, you will see Nick Offerman smiling more in those five minutes than you probably have over five seasons.

Vampire Bats on DVD Region 1 To Be Released

Image635141555720557950

Vampire Bats with Lucy has been around on DVD for Region 4 (Australia/New Zealand) for quite a few years. Now the US and Canada will have access to the movie on DVD.

--

A couple years back, Warner Bros. revolutionized the home video game by launching a 'burn-on-demand' program, making available many of the films in their archive for the very first time on DVD.

Rather than printing up mass quantities of the movies, like they normally would, the burn-on-demand system gets the movies into the hands of those that really want them, without the expense of wide releases. How it works is that when someone orders one of the movies, the company burns a copy specifically for that person, which is then printed, packaged and shipped out.

It's a pretty cool new way of getting movies out there, and we're happy to report that Sony is now getting in on the fun. With their manufacture-on-demand program, they're making available never-before-released titles from over 75 years of the Columbia Pictures film library, under the banner Sony Pictures Choice Collection.

We're even happier to report that a slew of horror films have either already been released or soon will be, through the program. Check out the full list of titles below!

Vampire Bats

A deadly species of vampire bats is responsible for a series of bizarre murders, including a student found dead with his body completely depleted of blood. It is up to Dr. Maddy Rierdon (Lucy Lawless, TV’s “Xena: Warrior Princess”) and Dan Dryer (Dylan Neal, TV’s “Dawson’s Creek”) to figure out a way to stop these bats before they take control of their town. Also starring Timothy Bottoms (The Last Picture Show) and Craig Ferguson (TV’s “The Late Late Show”), with a special appearance by Brett Butler (TV’s “Grace Under Fire”), VAMPIRE BATS is scary, campy fun!

Greenpeace Press Release: Kiwi Stars Criticise Key’s Government 04 September 2013

Image635140492384850209Kiwi Stars Criticise Key’s Government

Wednesday, 4 September 2013, 8:59 am
Press Release: Greenpeace New Zealand

WEDNESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER

Kiwi Stars Criticise Key’s Government

A star-studded array of New Zealanders has joined forces to criticise the government in a new campaign to be launched this (Wednesday) evening.

Hollywood actor Sam Neill, award-winning musicians the Topp Twins, Tiki Taane and Warren Maxwell have teamed up with acclaimed writer Albert Wendt, academic Dr Ranginui Walker, leading businessman Phillip Mills, entrepreneur Nick Gerritsen, former Acting Judge of the Supreme Court Sir Ted Thomas and many others (full list below) to condemn the government’s plans for deep sea oil drilling and attempts to crack down on peaceful protests.

Uniting under the slogan Get Free, they have created a new three-minute ‘call to action’ addressed to the nation, which can be seen, from 7.30pm this evening, at www.getfree.org.nz. In it, they call for New Zealanders to stand together in defence of the country’s oceans, the New Zealand way of life, the right to protest and against the government's plans to drill for deep sea oil.

Backing clean energy instead would, say the group, be a boost for New Zealand’s environment and economy.

Almost 30,000 jobs could be created in areas such as the geothermal and bioenergy industries, revealed a report, released earlier this year and based on scientific modelling carried out by experts in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The analysis shows that the geothermal industry alone could be worth over NZ$4billion to the economy every year. And a growing bioenergy sector could see New Zealand becoming increasingly less reliant on foreign oil imports, saving the country over NZ$7billion each year by 2035 (1).

The call comes in the wake of the National-led government’s controversial crackdown on protest at sea and as New Zealand’s reputation for being clean and green faces increasing international scrutiny. In recent days, Texan oil company Anadarko has announced plans to drill in New Zealand waters in the coming months.

Bunny McDiarmid, head of Greenpeace, who co-ordinated Get Free, said: “The Get Free message is loud and clear that if we don’t stand up now, we stand to lose things of great value to us - our democratic rights and our unpolluted waters.”

Sir Ted Thomas said: “The new law making it illegal to protest at sea is shameful. We have a long history of defending our land and sea and fighting for our freedoms. In many ways protest has provided the strong foundations on which we have built New Zealand. If there ever was a time to protect our country, now is that time.”

Leading New Zealand businessman and founder of the Pure Advantage group Phillip Mills said: “From a business perspective, failure to deal with climate change will undo all of our hard work. Conversely, the greatest future opportunities lie in dealing with this problem. The intelligent path for New Zealand is clean energy innovation, not the blind pursuit of more oil.”
Entrepreneur Nick Gerritsen said: “The evolution of the green economy is a natural fit for NZ. It's what we do. It's what the world thinks and expects of us. It's common sense because it’s where our competitive advantage rests.”

Others participating in Get Free include Lady Blake and Peter Williams QC, oncologist Dr George Laking, Te Whanau ā Apanui kaumātua Rikirangi Gage and lawyer Dayle Takitimu, surfing stars Mischa Davis and Daniel Kereopa, actors Robyn Malcolm and Lucy Lawless and Maria Tyrrell, the daughter of RNZN Commander Alan Tyrrell who was the Commanding Officer of the HMNZS Otago at the Moruroa Protests.

The government’s new law banning aspects of peaceful protesting at sea was heavily criticised by lawyers and politicians when it was introduced. Over 45,000 people signed a statement against the new measures.

The Power, The Passion - Xena's 18th Birthday! Hail The Warrior Princess!

ImageI posted the article below on 5 September 2012 and it seems like a good time to repost it :) Today (in the US) is Xena's 18th Birthday - the day the first episode "Sins of the Past" airred on US TV - 04 September 1995.

Xena is 18 and AUSXIP is 17...

The Power, The Passion - Xena's 18th Birthday! Hail The Warrior Princess
By MaryD

Today (in the US) is Xena's 18th Birthday - can you believe it? This show that has changed so many lives; from the actors / producers / crew to the fans has created something so unique, so special. It has created The Xenaverse - go over to the AUSXIP Charity Site to see the generosity, the love, the downright brilliance that is the Xenaverse in action. The Xenaverse has raised over 15 MILLION dollars for various charities in the last 18 years. What an amazing, incredible generosity of spirit this show has produced.

It is because of Xena: Warrior Princess we have all come together. It is because of Rob Tapert's vision, the brilliance of Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor who created the roles we fell in love with. We have a community that no only has grown to be such a force for good but it brings in new fans every day. It without a doubt the best show ever made; I know of no other that has impacted the lives of so many.

THE POWER, THE PASSION, THEIR COURAGE CHANGED OUR WORLD! Hail The Warrior Princess and Her Bard and the Xenaverse!
After 18 years this opening theme to my favourite show of all time still gives me a thrill

"In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle. The power. The passion. The danger. Her courage will change the world."

BATTLE ON!!

Lucy Joins #GetFreeNZ Campaign Urging NZ Govt To Listen To The Public On Deep Sea Oil Drilling

snapshot_001Lucy has joined other kiwis such as Sam Neill, Robyn Malcolm (to name a few) in a new #GetFreeNZ campaign to get the New Zealand government to listen to the public rather than shut them out on decisions on deep-sea oil drilling. The video can be seen at www.getfree.org.nz  from tonight -

WATCH VIDEO  |  VISIT www.getfree.org.nz

Lucy has been campaigning with Greenpeace on the Deep Sea Oil Drilling issue for New Zealand since November 2011 when she sent the following message to the New Zealand Government:

Dear New Zealand Government,

I and many other New Zealanders are putting you on notice that your courting Deep Sea Oil Drillers is totally unacceptable to us.
Petrobras
[the Brazilian oil company that is intending to drill for oil in up to 3100 metres of water off the East Cape, is the part-owner of an oil field northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where a serious oil leak has developed] already has an uncontrollable leak off their own coast which is spewing filth into their own marine environment.

Why are you giving offshore oil companies carte blanche to risk OUR fisheries, OUR coastal way of life, OUR clean green brand upon which all our premium exports rely?
Do you work for us or for them?!
Your answer, please?
Lucy Lawless

The petition exists in hard copy form, and online at: http://greenpe.ac/nodeepseaoil

The following article appeared in the Fairfax Media/Stuff.co.nz today

Hollywood actor Sam Neill has teamed up with a host of stars to lambast the Government over plans to shut out the public from decisions on deep-sea oil drilling.  The Jurassic Park actor has shot a video with fellow actors and environmentalists Lucy Lawless and Robyn Malcolm. Musicians Tiki Taane and the Topp Twins make cameo appearances.

The three-minute clip also features Lady Blake, widow of yachtsman Sir Peter Blake, poet Albert Wendt and surfing champions Mischa Davis and Daniel Kereopa.

The Greenpeace NZ film was sparked by recent law changes which reduce the right to oppose exploratory drilling.

Neill uses the "call to action" video montage to criticise National for threatening the oceans and spoiling New Zealand's international reputation. He says the country is "going backwards fast."

"The Government seems to want to take the country in a very different direction."

Taane accuses the Government of "back-room deals" with oil companies and says "our right to protest has been taken from us."

"This is not about job creation. It is simply about making other people rich," he says.

Lady Blake tells the camera: "The greed for fossil fuels is leading to the expansion of toxic drilling, mining and fracking into every last unspoiled part of the globe - from the Arctic Circle to the deepest of our oceans."

Last week Environment Minister Amy Adams announced proposals that would see applications for exploratory drilling go through the Environmental Protection Agency. They would be "non-notified", which means members of the public would not get to have a say.

The proposal will be introduced to the Marine Legislation Bill, currently before Parliament, by way of a Supplementary Order Paper (SOP). This means it won't go through a parliamentary select committee.

The move follows the controversial "Anadarko Amendment" which saw a ban on protesting at sea. It was also introduced it as an SOP, avoiding select committee scrutiny.

Environmentalists say the exploration stage is risky with a danger of spills.

But Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce says attracting oil companies is vital for economic growth.

He released a report yesterday that claims the petroleum and minerals sector generates $333 per hour worked, with $380 million in levies paid to the Crown last year. Workers are paid on average $105,000 a year, more than twice the New Zealand average, Joyce said.

"If you make things over-burdensome in the early stages of exploration then you will end up in a situation where [international companies] won't bother."

The video can be seen at www.getfree.org.nz  from tonight.

NUB OF THE ISSUE

A proposal to tweak laws governing New Zealand waters would stop the public having a say on applications for exploratory oil drilling. The plans have environmentalists up in arms, - the Government says attracting oil giants is essential for economic growth.

WHAT IS HAPPENING? Environment Minister Amy Adams last week released a discussion paper on proposals for regulating activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), waters stretching out to 200 nautical miles. Applications for exploratory deep sea oil drilling would go through the Environmental Protection Agency, but would be classed as ''non-notified''. This means members of the public would not get to have a say.

WHY? Adams says the new classification is necessary to keep costs down and involving the public is time-consuming. The exploratory process lasts between four and six weeks and the public would get a say if the companies applied to move to full production. The EPA will make decisions based on evidence and ensure there are safeguards. ''The important point in this is the impact and the threats to the environment. It's not about a public opinion poll, it's about at looking at the information,'' Adams said. She also argues there is currently no environmental oversight of such operations.

BUT NOT EVERYONE AGREES IT'S GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT? Green Party energy spokesman Gareth Hughes says exploration is risky with a danger of spills. Both the Greens  and Greenpeace point out that the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, which killed 11 people, took place while drilling a deep exploratory well. Both are opposed to deep sea drilling and say a leak would be catastrophic for New Zealand's environment, economy and reputation.

WHY IS IT 'ANTI-DEMOCRATIC?' Adams will amend the Marine Legislation Bill through a Supplementary Order Paper (SOP). The bill has already passed a second reading which means the new proposal will escape select committee scrutiny. She argues the public can have its say through the discussion document. But she doesn't have to take those submissions into account. Opposition parties are crying foul because the Government also outlawed protest at sea through a SOP earlier this year, meaning there was no public or political consultation. It became known as the ''Anadarko Amendment'', after the Texan oil firm.

WHO'S IDEA WAS IT? The Government has admitted they have been lobbied by the oil and gas industry over the 'Anadarko Amendment'. Asked if the industry also petitioned for the non-notified classification for exploratory drilling, Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce said yesterday: ''They certainly lobbied on the whole regime and they have definitely had their views.'' Greenpeace director Bunny McDiarmid NZ says the Government is looking after industry interests and both amendments are a reaction to iwi and Greenpeace protests on the East Coast.

And now she steals my goddamn garter.

Auckland Theatre Company's outstanding 2013 season ends with a BANG, as Chicago, directed by the musical maestro Michael Hurst and starring Lucy Lawless, Amanda Billing and Shane Cortese, opens at Q Theatre on 1 November.

1920s, Chicago. Cook County Jail is home to a bawdy band of murderesses, all of whom have eradicated their quickly insignificant others. Chanteuses Velma Kelly (Lucy Lawless) and Roxie Hart (Amanda Billing) have both acquired a spot on Death Row. Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton (Colleen Davis) and smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn (Shane Cortese) to turn her incarceration into a media frenzy. But, not one to rest on her laurels, Roxie comes up with a foxy plan to steal back the limelight and, instead of wrangling the law, the two divas find themselves fighting the ultimate battle - the race to superstardom.

Of the production, Director Michael Hurst said, "The thing about Chicago is that it underneath all the jazz and the fizz is the pulsing, wild, abandoned and desperate beating heart of a corrupt and exploitative society. It's a dark, sexy and vicious tale, propelled by extraordinary music - the rhythms of murder and corruption; the rhythms of lust. It's a revelatory tale of the transience of celebrity. And it's fabulous."

Auckland Theatre Company Artistic Director, Colin McColl, said, "The longest-running American musical ever to play the West End, Chicago has garnered a stash of glitzy awards in many revivals worldwide. Michael's production stars the hottest cast of the year including Lucy Lawless, fresh from her role as Mama Morton in Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Brooke Shields, Stephen Moyer and Ashlee Simpson."

One of the most famous shows of all time, Chicago contains all the elements of an unadulterated musical - celebrity, scandal, corruption, scantily-clad women and serious jazz hands.

Lucy Talks About A Possible Xena Resurrection - Daily Dragon Interview August 2013

ImageThis year Lucy Lawless made her first appearance at Dragon Con, taking part in Battlestar Galactica and Spartacus panels as well as her own solo panel on Friday afternoon. Her breakout role as Xena: Warrior Princess was enough to cement her as both a geek and a girl power icon, but she continues to impress on both stage and screen. She’s returning to Parks & Recreation this season and taking on a thriller for Australian television.

Daily Dragon (DD): I read an interview you did recently where you talked about your ideas for reviving the Xena series.

Lucy Lawless (LL): What I would love to happen. I have no say over the outcome, but certainly there’s a studio that’s quite interested. They’ve been looking into who holds the rights and unpack the whole legal knot that’s tied it up for a long time. In the old days a studio would rather kill a project rather than let it go anywhere else. Or kill a project if they don’t own 100 percent of it. But in this day and age isn’t it better to own 70 percent of something than 100 percent of nothing?

This is a great idea, [Xena and Gabrielle have] a great relationship, the show has a great fanbase. Give the people what they want!

DD: You said that at some point Xena should pass on the mantle to a new warrior princess who would lead the way for a new generation. Which actress could you see in that role?

LL: I’m out of the loop of who’s out there right now. You want someone who’s capable of being funny and can also have heartfelt moments. Somebody who’s not a whiner because it’s a hard shoot.

DD: Due to all the fighting?

LL: I never really enjoyed the physical aspect of fighting and stuff; it’s just not my thing. Every single day I was shocked when they’d say “Lucy, your fight’s up!” and I thought, are you kidding me, we’ve got to do another one? My only defense was to get good at it so I could get it over and done with.

Lucy at DragonCon Event Digest Photos + Video Day 3 + Lucy’s Mishap

DragonCon Day 3 has revealed more great photo ops and a mishap for Lucy. Seems she pulled a muscle in her leg while she was running for the Adventure Time panel! Ouch.  The photo ops for the day with Lucy were cancelled (for obvious reasons).
People were advised that if they had a Photo Op with Lucy for today, they could come back on Sunday or get a refund.

After being treated, Lucy did show up at the Spartacus panel in a wheelchair, resting that gimpy leg, and was she pushed by Liam McIntyre onto the Spartacus Panel.

From all the tweets coming through Lucy is making a lot of fans deliriously happy! My favourite photo so far is the one of Lucy photo bombing a Xena cosplay group. That was just mind blowing for those fans and made me smile! See the photo below!

There was also a photo of Lucy signing autographs and a very familiar face showing up next to her – yes Jason is at DragonCon as well! See the tweet below!
