2012 Lucy Lawless Auckland Concert Song 12: I Touch Myself

Jumping around a bit with the videos...this is song #12 I Touch Myself. Jo's camera (where you see most of the footage so far and centered on Lucy) died just before the song started so we had the backup camera on the tripod. The tripod camera was taking in all the stage. The stage invaders are two of Lucy's old school friends who jumped up from the side.

I TOUCH MYSELF

Save The Arctic: Judge extends restriction area for Greenpeace

The Associated Press | Published: May 29th, 2012 05:23 PM

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A federal judge has made it more difficult for representatives of Greenpeace USA to board Shell Oil's drilling vessels.

In March, Judge Sharon Gleason in Anchorage ordered the group to stay a kilometer away from Shell Oil's drilling ships destined for Arctic waters off Alaska's northern coast. The restrictions applied to U.S. territorial waters up to 12 miles from shore.

On Tuesday, Gleason extended the restrictions to 200 miles offshore. Shell intends to drill 18 miles off the Beaufort Sea coast this summer, and 70 miles off the Chukchi coast.

Shell sought the preliminary injunction after Greenpeace New Zealand activists, including actress Lucy Lawless, in February boarded the Shell drill ship Noble Discoverer before it left for the U.S. West Coast for cold-weather modifications.

Lucy Auckland Concert Review by MaryD

LUCY LAWLESS CONCERT REVIEW
By MaryD

Rating 10/10
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Date: 27 May 2012

Image634738406450689375Well I'm back home from one of the most exciting long weekends I've ever had. Where to begin; where to begin.

Let's talk about a girl named Lucy Ryan from Mount Albert.

It takes talent to perform and a whole lot of guts to perform in front of an audience. That is a given. Now it takes another form of courage to be able to do this in front of your own neighbourhood. These are the people that have seen you grow up. Have seen all your goofy antics, your friends. Who may not follow what you do in your career but now they come to see you perform.

In Lucy's case that is exactly what she did. She was going to perform in front of the hardest crowd ever to impress.
Firstly mega kudos to the fans who flew in from the UK, the US, Australia and other countries. They created a buffer of love in the front rows. It was like a giant security blanket.

The rest of the guests were a mixture of people from family to old friend and neighbours. Outside of family who will love her no matter what, the rest were there to have their eyes opened to the performer Lucy has become.
She came to impress and was dressed to get their attention. Mission accomplished. From the moment Lucy stepped out on stage she owned it. It was a very strong performance and her voice was the strongest I've ever heard it. The vibe in the room was different to any other Lucy concert; fans bring an adoration vibe and their love reaches Lucy (not quite sure how to explain that vibe). This was a different vibe. I felt it ripple down from the front which was rather interesting. There was an expectation; not knowing what Lucy would do, not fully understanding how much she has grown as a performer. Not sure what but it was there.

Lucy Lawless Concert Mini Report and Photos

Hey guys I'm back home from Lucy's concert; it was SPECTACULAR. it was without a doubt a spectacular event. The Kings Arms was PACKED to the rafters. I mean jam packed. I did take photo of both sides of the room. I was standing on the fireplace which gave me a great vantage point to the entire room.

I'm bone dead tired at the moment but here are some photos (took over 700 photos) and video. will have to wait till I get home tomorrow for the video and the majority of the photos.

Lucy was on fire; her voice was strong, she was seriously sexy in her leather outfit that the photos don't do justice to. It was just superb; the band were superb. More of my report when I can actually think straight!

Lucy Concert - TODAY! Last Countdown Video: Tell Mama

Today is the day when Lucy Lawless and Friends take on Auckland. It promises to be one hell of a concert. It's not too late to buy your tickets (if you are in Auckland).

Here's the last song before tonight's concert and of course it has to be Tell Mama - why? Well Lucy really truly rocked this on Celebrity Duets and it's a fitting way to end the countdown.sit back and enjoy Tell Mama!

Lyrics to Tell Mama :

Your dogs ain't found a good girl
One that love you and give you warning
Now you find that you been misused
Well how many girls can think all right

She'd embarrass you anywhere
She'd make her friends think that she didn't care
Give me the chance and I'd been begging
And I just want to take care of you and I want you to

Tell Mama, all about it, tell Mama, what you need
Tell Mama, what you want and how that girl does things all right
Let me hear you say 'Yes'

The girl you had didn't have no sense
she wasn't worth all the time you spent
Had another man kick you out the door
Now that same dude is wearing your clothes

Tell your Mama, what you want, tell your Mama, what you need
Tell your Mama, what you got to have

Lucy Concert: 1.5 Days To Go Video: I Touch Myself

It's nearly here...1.5 days left...Today we have a double: Lucy in London singing the Divinyls Classic "I Touch Myself" and "Are You Gonna Be My Girl in May 2008

I TOUCH MYSELF (Originally sung by The Divinyls)

I love myself
I want you to love me
When I'm feelin' down
I want you above me
I search myself
I want you to find me
I forget myself
I want you to remind me

Chorus:
I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

You're the one who makes me happy honey
You're the sun who makes me shine
When you're around I'm always laughing
I want to make you mine

I close my eyes
And see you before me
Think I would die
If you were to ignore me
A fool could see
Just how much I adore you
I get down on my knees
I'd do anything for you

Chorus

I love myself
I want you to love me
When I'm feelin' down
I want you above me
I search myself
I want you to find me
I forget myself
I want you to remind me

Chorus

I want you
I don't want anybody else
And when I think about you
I touch myself
Ooh, oooh, oooooh, aaaaaah

Top of the Lake To Be Shown On The Sundance Channel

Top Of the Lake mini-series that Lucy will be appearing in news. Looks like the mini-series will be screened on the Sundance Channel according to the Q&A excerpt below

Q&A With Sundance Channel's Sarah Barnett

By Kaylee Hultgren

Sundance Channel is following in AMC's footsteps and moving into scripted programming. In Wednesday's issue of CableFAX Daily Sarah Barnett, evp, gm, Sundance Channel spoke about the net's scripted programming strategy and its new series "Push Girls" (premiering June 4), which features beautiful, empowered women in wheelchairs. Here she talks more about the series and the channel's nonfiction slate.

You're launching your first scripted series "Rectify" next year along with a 7-part series "Top of the Lake." What makes these shows right for Sundance Channel?

"Rectify" is a very singular voice from an extraordinarily talented showrunner and writer called Ray McKinnon. It's a very distinctive tale. It's very character heavy. It's utterly compelling and unlike anything else on the TV landscape. "Top of the Lake" is directed by Jane Campion and it stars Holly Hunter, Elizabeth Moss--a much-loved AMC Networks talent--and a bunch of others...Peter Mullen, Lucy Lawless. It's a beautiful, mysterious, non-formulaic piece of television by a legendary filmmaker. So we have these 2 really big, really defining scripted projects, most of which are created by extraordinary talent that comes from the film world and is moving into television. And whilst that isn't a kind of a prerequisite for us, that it has to be someone who grew up in film, it sort of makes good sense where it can, to have that flow of extraordinary brilliant talent from film moving into television.

Lucy Concert: 2.5 Days To Go Video: Wide Awake & Undie Throw

We're now down to 2.5 days...it's gone beyond exciting don't you think? I think so. Now it's just a matter of wishing Sunday would get here already.

The following video is from Lucy's September 27th, 2008 concert at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco. She's singing Wide Awake (originally sung by Tuck and Patti). I also chose this video because it has an undie (aka panty) throw - something that will also be happening at the Auckland concert because Lucy started the thread and the fans picked it up and now we're going to have a Trans-Tasman Undie War. Some things are just too damn funny to explain.

LYRICS

Wide Awake

There was a time in life
When I felt my only choice was to run away
From so much hatred
It seems sometimes that the killing will never end
I was afraid, I could not see the end in sight
And so I did what many of us often do
I took all my feelings and put them all to sleep
Until I could not feel any more pain

But you cannot change a thing if you cannot feel your heart
And so I prayed for strength to help me face my fears
I remember the day, and although it hurt me deep
I was happy for my tears

I am wide awake, ready to take my place
In the war that's going on for hearts and minds
I am wide awake and I won't hesitate
To stand and tell the truth to save a life

So many suffer and cry
While too many of us turn our heads and hide
For lack of our love
Today 10,000 children closed their eyes and died
It's hard to take, we cannot face the madness
And so we go back to the place where we feel safe
We take all our feelings and put them all to sleep
Until we cannot feel any more pain

But don't you be afraid cause
Wide awake there will be many others
Who will join you on your way
Oh and there is so much beauty,
You just have to open up your eyes
Wide awake sometimes your heart will break
When you hear another anguIshed cry
In the middle of this sorrow
You have got to realize

If you cannot look, then you cannot change
Open up your eyes, don't be afraid
I'm right here beside you
I wll never leave you lonely.

I keep my head up and my heart wide open
I'm here to tell you it is worth any pain you feel
Don't go to sleep, do not slumber
So many are depending on you
I am wide awake ready to take my place
You'll be wide awake ready to take your place
We are wide awake ready to take our place.

I'm thankful and I'm so grateful that I'm wide awake.

Lucy Concert: 3.5 Days To Go Video: Total Eclipse of the Heart London 2008!

We are back to London for Lucy's Bad Girls in Heaven concert and the Bonnie Tyler classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Lucy sang this on the 4th May 2008.

We are just 3.5 days out from the Auckland concert and the fan migration has begun! Watch out Auckland - Aussies, Kiwis, Yanks, Brits and others are heading your way! Let's get this party started!

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART

Turnaround, every now and then I get a
little bit lonely and you're never coming around
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit helpless and I'm lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit angry and I know I've got to get out and cry
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified but then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll never be the boy you always you wanted to be
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's no one in the universe as magical and wonderous as you
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's nothing any better and there's nothing I just wouldn't do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Lucy Concert: 5.5 Days To Go Video Down On Your Knees + Song Lyrics

Oh this is a special one; Lucy performed this song (which she also wrote) at Girls Bar, The Factory on 11 November 2005. See below the video for the lyrics to this song.

Here are the Lyrics to this song:

DOWN ON YOUR KNEES
Written and performed by Lucy Lawless

I like sweet things
Lollipops and diamond rings
Pearl drops, hot rocks
River stones
You're into my head
What you think you're doing there
That's no place for young things to be
But as long as you're there
Just so long as you dare
Get down on your knees
Show me you love me
Get down on your knees
Show you care
Get down on your knees
Prove that you're worthy
Get down on your knees
You've nothing to fear

You got potential
Lead in your pencil
These are a few of my favorite things
You're a bitch, i'm a slob
If you want you got the job
Pony up
Sign your name
Glory awaits
But as long as you're there
Just as long as you're near
I get down on my knees
Show you i want you
Get down on my knees
Prove i care
Down on my knees
Pray that i'm worthy
Down on my knees
Make me fear

Misery loves company
I'll make you a star you'll see

Down on my knees for you, baby
Down on my knees for your love
I'm down on my knees. . .

Lucy Concert: 6.5 Days Video - Hallelujah

We are down to the last week and I have to say, even as I'm typing this, I have a smile on my face because I'm heading off for a spectacular concert next Sunday! Seriously, if you can make it, it's going to be worth it. Watching Lucy having a great time on stage is always worth a long trip (for me, this is the shortest trip I've made to watch her sing).

Here's today's countdown video. Lucy singing a song I'm totally in love with. Hallelujah. This version was sung at the Bad Girls in Heaven concert in London.

90s TV Stars: Where are they now: Lucy Lawless

Image634731160954531250

The NYDailyNews is looking at stars of the 1990's and where they are now.

Lucy Lawless (Xena Warrior Princess)

The leather clad, Xena kicked her butt through six seasons of the self-titled show. Seeking redemption for her past warlord, bad-girl ways, the 'Warrior Princess' went on a mystical quest that would pin the sexy lady against Greek gods like Ares, vengeful crazies, like Callisto, and Caesar himself. Though Lawless's star shone brightest during her 'Warrior Princess' days, the Kiwi actress and mother of two would continue to showcase her sci-fi side in cult show 'Battlestar Gallactica' as D'anna Biers, made for TV movies like 'Locusts', and the current Showtime series, 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand.'

Lucy Likely To Get Raucous Herald on Sunday 20 May 2012

Image634730934361243750Expect the unexpected when Lucy Lawless sings at the King's Arms next Sunday. By Paula Yeoman.

LUCY LAWLESS will unleash her inner bad girl when she takes to the stage at the King's Arms in Auckland this month for a one-off concert. And who could blame her? Recovering from a bout of flu, the actress is juggling filming commitments on the Jane Campion miniseries Top Of The Lake with the equally new role of ''environmental warrior princess''.

So, over a few wines with friends one night, Lawless decided it was time to let her hair down. ''It's just a reaction to life. I'm 44, I'm going disgracefully into middle age. I'm not going to get into a rut and turn to chardonnay to bloody get me through the afternoon.''

Lawless is no stranger to singing. She performed in Grease on Broadway and was runnerup on the US reality TV show Celebrity Duets in 2006. But it is the first time she has properly unleashed her voice on a Kiwi audience.

''I've never cultivated my persona here at all because I love New Zealand so much I want to live here, I don't really want to be famous here,''

REBEL: Lawless refuses to go quietly into middle age. says Lawless. ''But now that I've been here solidly for three years shooting Spartacus, it's time to do what I do from time-to-time in the States, which is just get raucous with my mates on stage.''

By mates, she's referring to a star-studded backing band that includes Anika Moa and Julia Deans who will join her on covers of Pat Benatar's We Belong and Lana Del Ray's Blue Jeans. Lawless isn't giving any more away. Instead, she's urging people to come to the strictly R18 event with an open mind and to expect the unexpected. ''This is not a show for snobs. It's about people who want to get off the chain and let their bad girl out.'' Lucy Lawless and Friends perform at the King's Arms in Auckland on Sunday, May 27. Lucy Lawless and Taranaki 7 Court Case Adjourned to 13 June

As Lucy tweeted two days ago (see below) the Save The Arctic court case has been adjourned once again. This morning The Taranaki Daily News is reporting that the court case has been adjourned to 13 June.

Lucy and her fellow protesters have only appeared in court once and that was 18 April. On that day it was adjourned for the parties to come to some agreement out of court (so it seemed from what the police were saying). They were due to go to back to court on 3 May but was pushed back to 17 May. The 17 May date has been been adjourned to 13 June.

Not Even A Honey Badger Could Hate Lucy Lawless

Stuff.co.nz had an article about The Comedy Awards and Lucy was mentioned. Randall, the guy responsible for the hysterical Honey Badger videos was nominated for Best Remix for his series of videos:

Bounding down with outrageous enthusiasm was Randall the Honey Badger Guy. Nominated for Best Remix, his video depicting a crazy nasty-ass honey badger eating cobras and wrecking havoc has been watched by over 44 million people. While the Honey Badger may not care about the plight of the kiwi, Randall assures us he does. "I love kiwis! They were meant [to] be in my latest book but they got scrapped for some reason. Poor kiwis, always get scrapped by nasty-ass publishers"

But it is a certain Kiwi who has stolen his heart. Spartacus star Lucy Lawless acted in one of Randall's videos and he can't praise her enough. "She's the best," says Randall. "Not even a honey badger could hate Lucy. She's totally one of my BFFs".

If you missed this (how?), the video of  EXCLUSIVE: The Gross Honey Badgerette of New Zealand (original narration by Randall) is below (it's hysterical!). I love how Lucy just doesn't take herself seriously and that poor child! Just too funny.

Press Release: Get Lawless with Lucy & Friends for one night only!

600-Lucy Lawkess creditLidaVernerllow.jpgPRESS RELEASE:

Get Lawless with Lucy & Friends for one night only!

Lucy Lawless & friends invite you to a night of wickedness,
all in the name of rock'n'roll licks, good times and tickling the funny bone.

With a cluster of high grade musical and comedic friends, Lucy Lawless invites you to a 'one night only' event of rock'n'roll'n'revellry and R18 indulgence on Sunday 27 May at Auckland's iconic King's Arms.

It's an all-star team up including Amazon queens - Anika Moa and Julia Deans, Scott Wotherspoon, Ben Jurisich and JaSonic Smith. Plus long-time Lawless compadre Joe Lo Duca; composer of Xena, Hercules and Spartacus soundtracks. On this occasion he's likely to channel his 15 year old soul - when he was a support act for 70's rock legends Ted Nugent and Bob Seger.

Fanning the flames of this wild desire is the wickedly talented Urzila Carlson, the Sarf Afrikaan comedienne well known to NZ audiences and the woman who is solely responsible for convincing kiwis that South Africans are good bastards and bitches.

It's a gonzo inspired event - one decided over late night wine - a gathering of great musicians and an irreverent comedienne; with the a manifesto that tantalises the naughty parts of nocturnal activity. As Ms. Lawless says "this is not your typical daytime Lucy".

This ain't a night for prudes, it is a rare chance to see Lucy Lawless in raw form - embracing the extremities of her persona, performing songs by Kiss "I Was Made For Loving You Baby', Lana Del Ray "Blue Jeans' , The Killers' 'Somebody Told Me' and many more bonafide classic covers of iconic songs.

Tickets for 'Lucy Lawless & Friends' are on sale now from Under The Radar www.undertheradar.co.nz. R18 event, not for the faint hearted!

Heartbeat To Heartbeat Page Redesigned + Video

Image634725340548291016Redesigned the Heartbeat to Heartbeat 2005 Documentary subpage and included the video that had been offline for a while. Heartbeat to Heartbeat is an urgent wake-up call for women to improve their cardiovascular health. The documentary reveals useful information on risk factors, symptoms and prevention of heart disease, while exploring the emotional impact of the number-one killer of women in the United States. HEARTBEAT also addresses the need for women to ask their physicians questions and to reach out for support. Interviews include heart disease advocate Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) and Kathy Kastan, president of WomenHeart.

Actor Lucy Lawless, star of the television series, Xena: Warrior Princess, who encourages women to take charge of their well-being: “Being a warrior goes into all aspects of our life, especially women’s health…. We’re all trying to do everything all the time. And I think we have to take a really strong focus on putting our health first, in every aspect—physical health, heart health, mental, emotional health.”

As the documentary underscores, diagnosis and treatment are critical to saving—and reclaiming—one’s life.

How's The Weather, Lucy?

I have to say today was one of those days that just had me laughing ALL day. Why? Well Lucy was a roll on Twitter. She was hysterically funny and just played along with the fans just having fun. One of the first things Lucy did today was change her profile info in response to questions such as: How's the weather Lucy, or I'm coming to NZ, what's a good place to visit? Stuff you let your fingers do the walking and head to google, Lonely Planet or something else other than Lucy Lawless.

I wonder sometimes if those people asking the silly questions are doing it to get Lucy's attention or they just don't know what to say. I'm leaning towards not knowing what to say. With 24,780 followers, there is a lot of fans who want to ask a question. Then there are the obvious trolls...the less said about those vile beasties the better.

Genuine fans are getting a kick out of Lucy's quick-witted responses.  Back to the weather reports...Lucy being Lucy played along and this was her profile change from: Lucy Lawless, actress, eco-warrior, mother to Lucy Lawless, actress, eco-warrior, sometime troll (that seemed to garner some silly responses) to her latest today:

Actor, eco-warrior, and sometime troll. will interact but cannot touch qtns like, How R U? or, How's the weather? or Can you give me NZ travel tips?

Now having said that...she goes and tweets a weather report (where she is currently there filming the Jane Campion mini-series Top Of the Lake ) with photo of the grey sky (and herself)!

and and this

E! Celebrity Profile Lucy Lawless Caps and Video Back Online

Image634721084215322266

In November 2000 when Xena was coming to an end (last episode was 18 June 2001 in the US) E! Celebrity Profile show centered on Lucy Lawless and the show interviewed Lucy's friends, her family and her co-workers (including Renee O'Connor and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Lucy's co-star in Grease and friend). Traces Lucy's life from Auckland to her rise to fame in Xena.

Due to the AUSXIP servers being hacked a year or so ago, a lot of the videos have not been reloaded. I'm in the process of changing formats on the video files from wmv to flv or mp4. Thank you for your patience!

Included with the screencaptures from the show is six video clips.

Sword and Sandals Epic The Australian 08 May 2012

Image634720987795136719

The following article appeared in The Australian newspaper 08 May 2012. PR for the show is pretty quiet so it's good to see something in the Australian media.

Sword and Sandals Epic
The Australian 08 May 2012

The effects are spectacular, the battle scenes terrifically choreographed, and you'll see more exposed male flesh here than on any other program bar the wrestling. The setting is quite obviously New Zealand and a great many handsome Maori are knifed and dismembered as extras. There is, as well, the odd "fush and chups" accent moment, which is odd but not unforgiveable in a rendering of ancient Rome. The main reminder of the great city is in the candlelit bath scenes, where tonight Gaius Claudius Glaber (Craig Parker), the man who enslaved Spartacus in the first place, is seen chillin' wid his bitches. Or at least he would have been a couple of thousand years later.

In the manner of these things, the women, generally wives and lovers and occasionally beautiful slave girls, have a bitchy, conniving world all their own, a bit like an ancient setting of Revenge. Glaber's wife Ilithia (Viva Bianca) storms about the place managing intrigues and the occasional tryst with a gladiator on the side. Tonight she gets to act out her Electra complex when she catches Daddy at it with that bitch Lucretia (Lucy Lawless). Meanwhile, Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) and a few scantily clad rugby forwards are clomping through the forest, their numbers ever dwindling as they are bumped off by sneaky Roman soldiers.

Spartacus: Vengeance, Monday, 9.30pm, Go!

Warrior Women Documentary Press Release

Following up yesterday's update about Lucy's documentary series Warrior Women being released on DVD and available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk (see Warrior Women Documentary on DVD Now Available on Amazon) . Michele sent me the following PR release and link to the official site

NEW RELEASE!

Hosted by Lucy Lawless, this five-program series pays tribute to history's most charismatic women warriors. These action-packed episodes shot on location in France, Ireland, Britain, China, and North America will combine a heady mix of historical sleuthing and provocative reconstruction. Each episode of Warrior Women investigates the intimate, gritty details of the life and times of these great true-life women warriors, and celebrates the popular mythology that surrounds them.

Image634720139320283203Queen Boudica
In 62 BC, most of England was under the thumb of the Romans. Queen Boudica was married to King Prasutagus of the semi-autonomous Iceni tribe in the east. When the king died, he bequeathed half his kingdom to his young wife and her two daughters, and half to Emperor Nero to appease Rome. Thinking they could intimidate the young woman into complete submission, the Romans promptly flogged Queen Boudica, tortured her daughters and stole her lands. Boudica took up the sword, rallied her Iceni warriors and went on a rampage.

Image634720139212783203The Real Mulan
200 years ago a young woman brought the greatest empire in Asia to its knees. She was a master of kung fu and held the respect of 60,000 warriors who followed her unquestioningly into battle. Their enemy was the brutal and corrupt Qing dynasty -- a dynasty they were determined to overthrow. The fate of China was in one woman's hands. Her name was Wang Cong'er. Is she the real Mulan?

Image634720139032314453Joan of Arc
Convinced by the voices of saints to step forth and serve her deposed king, Joan of Arc became an unlikely war hero. With 10,000 beaten men and very long odds against the advancing English army, she scored a miraculous string of victories over the rather surprised English battalions by leading the charge into their front lines. She even returned the throne to Charles VII, but it all went horribly wrong when she was finally captured, tried for witchcraft and heresy, and burned at the stake.

Image634720139591220703Lozen: Apache Warrior
As a young girl, Lozen decided that tidying up the tent and cooking buffalo stew wasn't for her, and she was in constant trouble for beating up her brother, and she was in constant trouble for beating up her brother, the mighty Apache warrior Victorio. One day she discovered her special powers, which allowed her to detect the direction of the enemy. Equipped with this metaphysical radar and a healthy thirst for revenge, she became priestess, warrior, and Victorio's right hand tactician.

Image634720139446845703Grace O'Malley, Pirate Queen
The daughter of Irish pirate chieftain 'Black Oak' O'Malley, the girl Grace was dead set on a life of glory at sea with her father. In a fit of defiance against her mother's ideal of the 'quiet life of a lady', she shaved her head and was forever teased by her siblings with the nickname 'Bald O'Malley'. She got a new hairdo, mastered the sail and sword, and with a merry band of 200 mates, terrorized the shipping lanes of the coastal waters into her submission.

Lucy Tweets About Phil Bishop and His Work On Saving Amphibian Species

Image634720155076220703

Back in August 2011 Lucy took part in a Greenpeace auction to raise awareness and to inform New Zealanders to protect their environment by photographing places or animals that were important to her on the environment. Lucy said she chose to capture an image of a frog because the creatures were highly sensitive to water and forest health, and crucial barometers for our environment. Lucy's frog sold for $505 but what was more important, it highlighted the need to save their habitats.

Click here to read more about Lucy's frog.

This evening Lucy had a visitor staying over. Phil Bishop is lecturer at Otago University. He travels the world implementing programs to save the most least cuddly & most vulnerable. Lucy tweeted the following about this:

Warrior Women Documentary on DVD Now Available on Amazon

Lucy's Warrior Women Documentary was such a huge hit for the Discovery Channel and for years we haven't been able to purchase it on DVD (apart from one release in Greece which was very strange). Found the Warrior Women DVDs quite by accident and it's a little strange.

What's strange is that this has been lurking on Amazon since 3 May 2011 but it doesn't have Lucy listed in the credits even though she narrated all 5 episodes. I had a quick look at the credited acting team and it does appear to be the same documentary series narrated by Lucy. Very strange indeed.
There also appears to be no extras - just 45 minute episodes over 5 discs.

Image634720139032314453Image634720139212783203Image634720139320283203Image634720139446845703Image634720139591220703

Now this differs from the version that was sold only in Greece which was two discs for all 5 episodes and no extras.  The reviews don't mention extras and it's definitely the documentary Lucy narrated.

For more about this documentary series, check out AUSXIP Lucy Lawless Warrior Women Subsite about all the episodes and images

At this point I would say if you MUST have it, then buy it (it is expensive) or you can wait until I review it when my order arrives. It's just a little strange.

All five episodes can be purchased in one box

As she reached puberty, she wandered off alone into the desert and discovered her special powers. Holding her hands aloft to the heavens, her palms started tingling in the direction of the enemy. Equipped with this metaphysical radar and a healthy thirst for revenge, she became Victorio's right-hand tactician. She was an expert on horseback, and a great dancer who led the war party in pre-raid festivities. Balancing her dual role as priestess and warrior eventually got the better of her when she was away delivering a baby in a distant village and her brother was killed in a surprise attack.

Lucy Auckland Concert Update: Will The Concert Be Recorded To DVD

There will be a ton of photos and video from various people in attendance so one way or another those who can't go will see some of it.
